What Training With AI Taught Me About the Limits of Marketing Strategy

Hiking on a trail

I’ve never been an athlete—so naturally, I asked AI to train me for a 12-mile hike with a backpack full of bricks.

It built me a 12 week learn-to-ruck plan complete with cross-training and even something called a “deload week” (sure, sounds smart!).

At first it worked. The goals increased week by week, and I kept up. I reached 4 miles with a 12lb backpack and felt like a superhero.

But then…

The rucks got longer and my gear didn’t hold up. The heat kicked in and life got busy and I realized that 9 miles takes way more planning (and recovery) than a quick 2-miler.

Eventually, I hit a wall and I started wondering…

Would a real trainer or seasoned hiker have seen this coming from the start?

Definitely.

They would’ve helped me pace better, plan smarter, and when life threw curveballs, I’d have someone to ask: "How do I adjust?"

And that got me thinking… maybe a lot of B2B SaaS teams are in the same place with design and marketing.

AI tools help you get started with fast, good-enough design. But what happens when the strategy shifts and the stakes go up?
